It's so common, it's ridiculous. You might think you're already savvy, as I did, but I learned some very useful tips from this book. Even if you think you're scam-proof yourself, chances are you know someone who could fall victim to this some day. Certain people are sitting ducks for it. It could be one of your parents, and there goes the inheritance. Reading this will help you recognize the signs early on. Scamming should become a frequent topic of discussion for everyone. Engaging stories of the dangers of online relationships, and the struggle to provide help to those who are being romantically and financially scammed. It left me wanting to know how/if there was a satisfactory resolution, but like real life the story goes on ...
First heard Sofija tell part of this story on The Moth Radio Hour. Had to get the book to hear more of the heartbreaking world in Internet scams and the desperately lonely people who fall for them. Miss Lonelyhearts for the 21st century. Read it in 1.5 hours. Wish it were longer or there were a followup.
